Vegetation of Rock Glaciers
Rock glaciers are talus slopes underlaid by perennial ice. These habitats host diverse lichen and bryophyte communities as well as locally rare or disjunct vascular plant and mammal populations normally found in Arctic or alpine environs. Supported by the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund and the University's of Maine at Presque Isle and Fort Kent, this project focuses on understanding the drivers vegetation composition and population genetic structure on fiver rock glaciers in the DeBoullie State Reserve, Aroostook County, Maine.
